Native Skywatchers – Earth Sky Connections

Opening: February 5. For the month of February only!

This traveling art exhibit brings artists together to share compelling visual stories about multi-dimensional relationships to earth and sky. The Native Skywatchers Initiative weaves together art, science and culture and is at the cutting edge of defining Indigenous STEM and what it means to work at the art/science nexus.

PROGRAMMING

As It Is Above; It Is Below: An inter-generational star map painting workshop. February 10th, 12-3 p.m. Kids 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. $10/person. Family rates available. Call Watermark to purchase tickets – cash or check only. Tel #: 218-444-7570.

Anangoog – Cultural Knowledge of the Stars: A presentation about Anishinaabe star knowledge and constellations led by Mishiikenh (Abe Sutherland) and Ogimaawap (Joe Sutherland) of the Nishnawbe Aski Nation, along with their parents, Mary and Leonard Moose. Two sessions: February 17th and 18th. Presentation begins at 1 p.m. each day, with traditional storytelling to follow. Free to attend, but space is limited.
