There is no charge for the reception. \nHer exhibit Wobliheca – “Energy to Create” is on display now in Watermark’s Miikanan Gallery. Twoheart will also lead a 4-part workshop beginning March 9 on the basics of garment design and approaches to creating a collection using online tools. DESCRIPTION:Drop in to Watermark’s Education Studio\, no registration required. \nWednesday\, March 13\, drop in to Watermark’s Creative Circle between 11am and 3pm to learn more about hide painting. Participants will make pouches from brain-tanned hide and paint with egg-based earth pigments. Supplies are limited to 16 pouches and are available on a first-come\, first-served basis. Hide Painting is a one-time opportunity. No charge for supplies. No registration required. One pouch per person. This activity will run concurrently with the beading circle.\n \nIn addition\, there will be the regular beading fun and creativity! Bring your own project or learn how to get started. SUMMARY:Sustainability Lecture and Workshop with Rachel Breen
DESCRIPTION:Workshop & Lecture with Rachel Breen \n1-3pm Workshop. 3:30 – 5pm Lecture. Attend one or both! \nJoin Watermark exhibiting artist and activist Rachel Breen from 1 – 3pm for a workshop focussing on working with ordinary objects that are a part of daily life\, then exploring ways to create works that convey these objects’ significance to us. Participants will engage with objects through disassembling\, constructing\, cutting\, arranging\, building\, gluing\, drawing\, sewing\, mending\, decorating\, and experimenting. \nFollowing the workshop\, from 3:30 – 5pm\,  Breen will present on the need to create new\, more just\, sustainable systems within the global garment industry needed to protect the planet and create solidarity with garment workers. There is no charge for this lecture. \n\n\nBreen’s work is currently on display in the exhibit “Reassemble” through March 23\, 2023. In her exhibit she assembles used clothing to gesture towards the reality that consumers in the global north purchase more than necessary and discard vast amounts of clothing\, that often wind up in landfills in the global south and not in our own backyard. From 1 to 3pm she will hold a workshop for participants who will explore ways to create art from ordinary objects.
