DESCRIPTION:Attend all 4 sessions – May 1\, 8\, 15\, 22 \nAll sessions from 6 to 8pm \n$40 fee includes all 4 sessions \nAdult – ages 18 and over \nMore Information → \nThis monitored open studio class is for participants of all levels who want to work from a live model. Refine your skills\, capture the human form\, and study light and shadow.  Join us for this 4 section series of 2-hour live nude model figure drawing open studio.  While a Watermark staff member will be present to facilitate\, instruction will not be provided.  Participants are responsible for bringing their own drawing materials. Watermark will supply drawing horses\, easels\, tables and chairs. There will be multiple poses ranging from 2 to 30 minutes.

SUMMARY:Neotectonic Reception and Artist Talk
DESCRIPTION:Multimedia Artist Susan Hensel and her exhibit “Neotectonic Period” opens May 9 with a reception from 5pm to 7pm including an artist talk with Hensel at 6pm. \nHensel explains the definition of Neotectonics as “the study of the motions and deformations of the Earth’s crust in current times\, often in service of predicting earthquakes.” She uses this terminology as a metaphor to describe the seismic forces of climate change\, cultural upheaval\, pandemic\, and political turmoil reflected in her work. The show runs through July 26\, 2025. \nThere is no cost to attend the reception and it is open to the public. SUMMARY:Stay Human Storytelling
DESCRIPTION:STAY HUMAN STORYTELLING – Special Event\nTuesday\, May 20\, 2025 \nKAXE/KBXE and Watermark Art Center present a captivating evening of true stories told live on stage at Bemidji Brewing. \nThe theme for the evening is “Where I Come From”. Featured storytellers\, all of whom have appeared on past broadcasts of KAXE/KBXE’s “Stay Human”\, include Scott Stowell from Ely\, author of Back Road Grace; long-time local storyteller Ann Marie Newman\, currently from Clearbrook; Leif Wallin\, from Bemidji; Susie Saxhaug Loeffler from Grand Rapids and Substack author of “Sounds from My Brain”; and Northwoods storyteller Terry O’Brien from Suomi Township in rural Itasca County. Open mic\, time permitting\, will follow the featured programming. Two Hearted will provide live music. \nDoors open at 6pm\, performances begin at 7pm. There is no cost to attend or perform. Bemidji Brewing is located at 211 America Avenue NW in Bemidji. \nThe show will be hosted by Michael Goldberg\, the producer of “Stay Human” – a mix of words and music for spirit and courage\, broadcast Saturday mornings at 9 am (repeats Sunday at 5 pm) on KAXE Grand Rapids and KBXE 90.5 FM in Bemidji\, streaming at kaxe.org.
