Looking at the inside of the yellow and brown speckled dish with five scalloped edges. The exterior has the same glaze.
2ND PLACE Watermark - Joe Singewald: Yellow Dish - Stoneware, 2024, 3x13x13
A ball shaped container with opening at the top. A thick lip around the opening adds interest as the sides are designed with curved lines dividing the sides from bottom to top into sections. The container is light olive green with cream shades at top, at the divisions, and dropped onto the sections.

A small light pink dish with handle and spout and several three dimensional embellishments. Inside of this and affixed to the bottom is a oval avocado shaped fruit with vertical rows of pointy stickers. This is done in glaze that variegates from redish at the top to light pink at the bottom. There is a light blue stripe at the bottom of the dish.

This plate is white on a wide edge with hand drawn brown spruce branches and pinecones with green needles. The center is a yellow-green glaze. Varigating from light yellow green to a darker olive green in the center.

The 19th Annual “It’s Only Clay” event is a partnership between the Watermark Art Center and Bemidji State University Department of Technology Art and Design.  Along with the juried exhibit, IOC 2024 features presentations, a workshop and select works on display by Guest Artist and 2024 Juror, Mark Lambert.

The juried ceramics competition focuses on and is dedicated to functional clay vessels. Each submission for IOC is judged in four areas: function, form/aesthetic, craftsmanship, and surface design.

2024 JURY AWARDS:
First Place: $1,300.00
Second Place: $1000.00
Third Place: $500.00

BSU PURCHASE AWARDS:
Purchase awards for the full value of work will be made by the Bemidji State University Department of Technology Art & Design. These works will be included in the Margaret Harlow Vessel Collection, a permanent functional ceramics collection at Bemidji State University. Awards will be announced at the November opening reception and be posted online by midnight, CST.

Additional purchase awards are made for work to be added to the Margaret H. Harlow Collection at BSU.
