Love Bytes aka An Amalgam of Time

I.

I am the whisper

of knowing

wrapped around stones

you have tossed carelessly

to skim across water

unconcerned

about their destiny

as they sink

into the deep.

II.

Midnight

slipped over

the curve of your palms

inscribing her wisdom

in sharp tongued strokes

leaving her language

tattooed

in the memory

of your touch.

III.

I recall the cries

of a baby

upstairs

in the complex

where I lived years ago-

now

the sharp rattle sounds

of my heart

letting go of you.

It is strange

how audibly the same

some things are.

IV.

The story I told you

was not the only story

or the worst story

just one story-

what you see in me

are simply reflections

of what I have survived.

Will knowing this

change anything at all?

V.

I remember

the fragrance of our love

like steam from a fire

under a sky

just beginning to rain

smoldering

lingering

at the back of my want

for years beyond our love.

VI.

Even now

your touch has not

abandoned me-

gathered memories

stored deep in the interior

of my winter

clutching tightly

to old roots-

destined to be chewed

when there is

nothing

else to find.

VII.

You and I

go back a thousand oceans

I am

drowning in them all

lost on the waves of forever

our story

 destined

to be

told more than one way

more than one time.

miigwech Poems come in cycles, in bits and pieces and some times they drop on to the paper with ease. I never know. Going back and refining is a process. I have been writing since fifth grade. I am actually going back to old thoughts and notes to see if there are any treasures to find. I have several new works in progress and they are vying for attention at the moment.
