Paper Tube Flowers … just in time for Spring!
SUPPLIES:
- 2 toilet paper tubes
- Cardboard egg carton
- Exacto knife
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Ruler
- White glue or glue gun
- Acrylic paints
- Paintbrush
Step 1:
Paint tubes green.
Step 2:
Divide one tube into 3 equal sections.
Step 3:
Cut tubes with exacto knife. Draw a line all the way around one tube, ½ inch from the bottom. Add leaf shapes on the line, following it all the way around the tube.
Step 4:
For each flower cut 2 egg cups and one square from between cups. Trim one egg cup toward the top, keeping it as tall as possible. Trim the other cup shorter than the first.
Step 5:
Cut petals into the cups. On the taller cup cut deep, wide petals. On the shorter cup make shallow, narrow cuts.
Step 6:
Open petals and curve down on both cups. Paint as desired. Paint square for flower center. Cut leaves drawn previously on toilet paper tube. Snip tube to open.
Step 7:
Draw lines on other toilet paper tube and cut with exacto knife as shown. ½
Step 8:
Push each strip out gently from the inside of the tube to create a vase shaped stem.
Assemble flower as follows…glue leaf ring around top of stem, leaflets pointing down.
Glue smaller egg cup inside larger egg cup, then square to center. Glue assembled flower to stem.
