Join us in creating art that honors this traditional Mexican celebration which takes place on November 1st and 2nd . Dia De Los Muertos is a distinct spiritual time of the year to gather family members together, reflect, and remember those that are no longer with us. It is a happy celebration meant to honor dearly departed loved ones, and to appreciate life while still being part of the living.
The Dia de Los Muertos Nicho Box class is a pre-recorded virtual class – class video access will become active beginning October 30.

Participants can register and pick up their class supply kits from WAC between October 21 and October 30 for this pre-recorded class. A link will be emailed to registrants which will become active on 10/30 and will be available for 1 month.
Use your creative collage and assemblage skills to create a Mexican inspired nicho box.
A nicho box is a three-dimensional, recessed display box used as a portable shrine to an important figure or loved one. Nichos serve loved ones during Dia de los Muertos celebrations and can honor a combination of both people and also objects found in popular culture. You may want to leave yours up year-round!
Class supply kits contain:
- 4 x 6 wooden hinged box with lid
- Lots of collage papers, ribbons, fibers
- 3d add-ons, washi tape, charms, and more
- Acrylic paint
- Small sized paintbrush
You will need:
- Water container
- Paper towels
- Hot glue gun / Regular glue
- Photos / Memorabilia
