The Monarchs are getting ready to migrate south for the winter, so let’s draw and paint a beautiful garden for them to stop at! First, we will visit the Watermark’s Pollinators Gardens, then we’ll head into the Education Studio to create our own, complete with a moveable Monarch butterfly.
Thank you so much to the sponsors of our Pollinator and Rain Gardens: Birds, Bees, and Butterflies – Bemidji
Prologue: Students visited the Watermark’s Pollinator Gardens for inspiration, then headed into the studio to start creating art with instructor Jill Oakes. Students learned about the life cycle of the Monarch butterfly, as well as native Minnesota flowers and how to draw them. They created a Monarch from vellum, a heavy opaque type of paper, then found a place for their butterfly to land on their artwork garden.
