On June 29 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m, Watermark will be offering an Intermediate class on the art of Saami bracelet making with instructor Michelle Nordlund Hanevold.
During this intermediate course, students will be able to design or select their own style of braid, weave or pattern for their bracelet. The instructors will guide you while you construct your bracelet, offering tips and suggestions.
This course is now open to anyone, including those who did not take the beginner course. Many of the techniques taught during the beginner course will be used during the intermediate class, but more focus will be put on the design and pattern. New students will still be able to understand and participate even without previous experience.
The materials used in the class are imported directly from Sweden. In addition to the class fee, a $25 material fee is due to the instructor at the beginning of class. Students will choose one bracelet kit from a variety of leathers, several tin thread colors and sizes, metal beads and leather cords. Additional kits will be available for purchase after the course.
