Watermark Art Center and Willow Wood Market present the third annual Creative Spirit Fiber Festival on February 27th at Calvary Lutheran Church from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come celebrate a day of the best in fiber arts! Just $7 admission gets attendees into a vendor market filled with fiber-related items, classes taught by experienced instructors, coffee and homemade treats, door prizes, and more.
New this year – bring a project from home! A lounge will be provided for attendees to work on projects. These could include knitting, crocheting, embroidery, spinning, tatting, or anything transportable. It’s a great way to make friends and get motivated to finish projects.
This year’s featured presenters are Dee Dee Menge of Halstad, MN and Lizabeth Towers of Crosby, MN. Menge does long arm and machine quilting, and currently teaches at Faye’s Henhouse in Mayville, ND. At this year’s Creative Spirit Fiber Festival, she will be presenting a trunk show on collage quilting at 11:45 a.m. Her quilts have won awards at fairs and have been shown in several locations, most recently at The Road to California Quilt Show.
Towers is an official knitting teacher certified by the Craft Yarn Council. She has knit for 29 years. Towers taught at Among the Pines, a former knitting studio in Baxter, MN. She has served as a judge for several local knitting contests and copies of her original designs can be found on ravelry.com. At this year’s Creative Spirit Fiber Festival, Towers will be teaching a class on Nordic Knitting at 10 a.m., as well as demonstrating steeking techniques at 12 p.m.
In addition to classes led by Menge and Towers, the Creative Spirit Fiber Festival will also have classes on knitting socks, preparing your quilt backing, Brazilian embroidery, soap felting, and more. Learn all the details for this year’s show at our Fiber Festival webpage.
Lunch will be available for purchase, with proceeds supporting Watermark.
