This monitored open studio class is for participants of all levels who want to work from a live model while learning how to capture the human form, study light and shadow, and refine their drawing skills. Join us for this 4 section series of 2-hour live nude model figure drawing open studio.  While a Watermark staff member will be present to facilitate, instruction will not be provided.  Participants are responsible for bringing their own drawing materials. Watermark will supply drawing horses, easels, tables and chairs. There will be multiple poses ranging from 2 to 30 minutes.

Participant Guidelines –

  • Treat the model with respect at all times.
  • If a model asks you to move, respect their request.
  • Do not take photographs or videos of the model. Electronic devices should not be used in the space. If you need to call or text, take your device outside of the room.
  • Do not ask the model for their name, contact information, or social media information.
  • Do not make any comments about the model, either negative or positive.
  • Pack up and leave the space immediately at the conclusion of the session. Clean up after yourself.

Meet the Model:  Tony Carr

“In 2011, I was living in Richmond, VA working as a Cargo Pilot. On April 11th of that year, I was flying a small twin engine aircraft when my left engine quit working immediately after takeoff, causing the aircraft to come crashing down on the runway and explode into flames. I suffered extensive burns and have undergone 68 surgeries to date relating to skin grafts, reconstruction, and burn injuries.

I took up modeling in 2012 to improve my body image and self-esteem as I adapted to my new appearance. I immediately fell in love with it and enjoy expressing myself through creative poses. I like sharing my story with others and hope to model for many years to come!”
