Some of the weaving techniques to be demonstrated include:
Color Play Handweaving on an 8 shaft Loom with Annette Theroux
Handweaving on a multi-shaft loom blends color and pattern from the warp (vertical threads) and weft (horizontal threads) to create a third dimension of fabric. Throw the shuttle, beat at the fell line, and watch as warp and weft combine to produce unique fabric patterns.
Demonstration and Hands-on Weaving on a Box Tape Loom with Carrie Jessen
In the 18th century, tape looms were essential to weave narrow bands of cloth – ‘tapes’. Tapes are used for hatbands, straps, and decoration for clothing. Handwoven tapes can be woven in simple patterns, or complex and colorful pick-up patterns.
