Multimedia Artist Susan Hensel and her exhibit “Neotectonic Period” opens May 9 with a reception from 5pm to 7pm including an artist talk with Hensel at 6pm.

Hensel explains the definition of Neotectonics as “the study of the motions and deformations of the Earth’s crust in current times, often in service of predicting earthquakes.” She uses this terminology as a metaphor to describe the seismic forces of climate change, cultural upheaval, pandemic, and political turmoil reflected in her work. The show runs through July 26, 2025.

There is no cost to attend the reception and it is open to the public. For more information regarding exhibits, classes, or events contact 218-444-7570 or visit WatermarkArtCenter.org. Watermark galleries and retail shop are accessible, free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and located at 505 Bemidji Ave. N in Bemidji, MN.
