Waabigwan (flowers) Impressions Workshop

Join IEN Teaching Garden and Watermark Art Center’s Miikanan Gallery for a two-part, three day workshop where you can create woodland florals in a new way.

The first part,  make prints on fabric using a Tataki zome process with Liseli Polivika. Use waabigwan (flowers) to create exciting eco-friendly designs by pressing flowers and leaves into the fabric. Participants will also explore Cyanotype printing, an environmentally friendly photographic process, with Nokomis Paiz. This session will be held outdoors at the IEN teaching garden at the Rail River Folk School at 303 Railroad Street SW in Bemidji.

The second part, Waabinoo Littlewolf and Liseli Polivika will teach participants to sew a bandolier bag using the fabric printed in the first session. Additional materials will be provided and you are welcome to bring additional remnants and embellishments if you like. This part of the workshop will be held at Watermark Art Center at 505 Bemidji Avenue N, in Bemidji.

There is no charge for this workshop, but you must register by calling Watermark Art Center at 218-444-7570. Regular hours are Monday – Saturday from 10am to 5pm.
