Fireweed Community Woodshop

Watermark is excited to collaborate with Fireweed Community Woodshop of Minneapolis for two woodworking classes to be taught in the Education Studio at Watermark. Watermark supports Fireweed’s mission of empowering women and non-binary makers through the art of woodcraft. Woodworking is an incredible skill that is both practical and creative. The act of woodworking builds confidence and strengthens the imagination. More information under the Description tab.

Ages 18 and up
Time:  10 am – 1 pm
Class Fee:  $45
Materials Fee: $15 (paid directly to instructor)

Learn how to carve a spoon from a fresh cut tree using traditional Nordic carving techniques. We cover tree anatomy, knife holds for the hook & Sloyd knife, drying, and finishing. This class is great for the beginner or the person wanting to learn Sloyd style carving. The materials fee includes tool rental, materials, a finishing kit, and safety gloves.

Additional info to participants: Long pants and closed toe shoes are required.
