Eliza Klarer has been an artist from a very young age. She was raised on the White Earth Reservation where the intricacies of the wilderness inspire her detailed artwork. Her foundations are in woodland pottery inspired by her grandmother, the late Judy Toppings. Klarer graduated from the University of Minnesota Morris in the Spring of 2024; majoring in Studio Art with a focus on ceramics and painting.
Since returning to her hometown she has reconnected with her roots in traditional woodland pottery by leading classes with her mother, Janet Klarer. In 2025 Eliza is apprenticing under Rick Kagigebi, a renowned indigenous blanket maker.
Eliza’s work was most recently showcased in Manoomin Arts Initiative’s Emerging Artist Gallery in Mahnomen, MN over the winter of 2024-2025, displaying the vast range of media in which she works; from ceramics, painting, textiles and bookmaking.
