About Charles…..

Charles E. Alberti was born on the southside of Chicago in 1945.   His art related career started when he was featured on a Chicago based children’s art show in the early 1950s. In high school he gained a strong interest in music as well as continuing with his art.   Charles composed and conducted a symphony of the high schools’ orchestra for his graduation.   In 1969 he graduated with a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Art Education with majors in Painting, Printing and Art History.  His non-studio classes were taken at the University of Chicago.

Charles was selected to be one of the first SAIC docents in the Museum Education program for young children.   He earned a graduate assistantship while he was an undergraduate in art history, where he taught first year students.   Charles taught art at an inner-city medical center’s psychiatric department in Chicago, while he attended SAIC working with children and adults.    He eventually taught at the high school level in the Chicago area.  He won an award for drawing in the International Art Competition in New York during the 1980s.     During the same period he was in charge of a Chicago medical center’s fundraising.  In this capacity he created a huge black-tie event bringing such talent as Petula Clark from England, Debbie Reynolds, Donald O’Connor, the Lettermen, the Irish Rover bagpipers and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra to entertain the patrons.
