Wrap weaving is a new look at an old art form. Wrap weaving is accomplished by using pre-cut foam core board and a yarn stash to work around the entire board interweaving contrasting colors and directions. If you would like to try it yourself during Patty’s demonstration on the 21st, you can bring your own board, yarn and any adornments you might want to incorporate into your piece.
About the Artist
Lovegreen is a lifelong Minnesota resident with a brief five-year detour in the mountains of Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
One of Lovegreen’s earliest memories includes playing with fabric and felt shapes, and then designing her own clothes. That experience led to a life in fashion and design. While she was teaching Fashion Merchandising in the Minnesota School of Business, Lovegreen researched and wrote a textbook titled “The History of Costume.”
After an early retirement, Lovegreen built a log cabin on property that has been in her family for many years. She is now happily and gratefully a full-time resident “in the boonies.” Her life’s dream was to live close to nature in the North Woods and away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Despite retirement, Lovegreen continues working with fiber and design, and considers herself a contemporary fiber artists. She still teaches classes locally and enjoys sharing her love of fiber and design.
Lovegreen is a member of the Midwest Weavers Association, Northern Minnesota Fibershed, Minnesota Weavers Guild, Watermark Art Center, and Bagley Area Arts Collaborative.
