Artist’s Talk March 26, 2 – 4pm. Exhibit: Extended to March 26. With her newest series of bold and bright portraits of children, Alice Blessing journeys through the developmental consequences of patriarchy and systematic oppression. Originally exploring feminism and puberty, Blessing’s deeply personal concept evolved to address intersectionality, gender and diversity.
Reception: Oct 1, 5-7pm. Exhibit: October 1 – November 27, 2021. This exhibit is the outgrowth of a recently published chapbook sharing his life as an artist. By focusing on abstract concepts, Alberti says he has let color dominate and control his expressions with color becoming the tool of investigation and discovery.
Presentation September 16 6pm. Exhibit July 2 – Sep 25, 2021: The word “reflection” can describe a contemplative mental state or the mirroring of light, particularly the reflection off water – a centerpiece of northern Minnesota identity. One hopes that the exhibit illustrates the fusion of both meanings into the viewer’s experience creating visual artistry through a lens.

Exhibit May 7 – May 24, 2021. The exhibit will showcase work by students from Bemidji High School, Trek North High School, and Laporte High School and will be held in the Lakeview Gallery and Education Studio Gallery.
Exhibit & Online Image Gallery February 17 – May 1, 2021: Years of witnessing plants and animals adapt to phenological changes and seasonal cycles, certain elements have surfaced to intertwine with visual fiber artist Kirsten Anderson’s life. Her wool-felted tapestries are an exploration of these relationships their circles of connection and reciprocity.
VIRTUAL EXHIBIT AVAILABLE>> Exhibit through November 20, 2020. This collage series was inspired by the literary genre of magical realism. The goal was to explore the spirit of nature visually and evoke the emotions and mystery humans find there and present another way of seeing nature.
VIRTUAL EXHIBIT AVAILABLE >> Exhibit: June 5 – July 31, 2020. “Invisible Valley” presents a selection from the hundreds of photos John Pearson gathered as he explored the Red River Valley area of North Dakota and Minnesota in June of 2016. The resulting photos reveal his persistent fascination with how people establish their place in the environment.

Closing Reception: CANCELLED. The paintings and prints on display reflect her research into new media, which she introduced into the art curriculum at BSU to enhance her students’ scope in the painting and graphics disciplines.
“Other Dimensions” is Natalia Himmirska’s retrospective exhibition, representing works executed during her “Minnesota Period” at Bemidji State University beginning in 2003 until this spring, when she will retire as a full professor.

November 1 – January 31, 2020. The world puts on a monochrome blanket, forests become transparent and graphical. Sparse colors seem even more vibrant, a snow-laden sky can appear darker than the snow-covered ground, snowdrifts reshape the landscape, and noises are muted.
